The report cards are in, and for the second consecutive time,
CaroMont Regional Medical Center received a grade “A” for its Hospital Safety Score by The
Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and
other large purchasers of health benefits.
Any proud parent can relate to a time when their child brought home a perfect
score on an exam or led its basketball team to the state finals all of
which meant the countless hours of studying and late evenings on the court
paid off in the end. Like a proud parent, CaroMont Health’s CaroMont
Regional Medical Center for the second time in a row received straight
“A’s” for safety—reflective of the hospital’s
commitment to a culture of safety.
The A score was awarded in the latest update to the
Hospital Safety Score
SM, the A, B, C, D or F scores assigned to U.S. hospitals based on preventable
medical errors, injuries accidents, and infections. The Hospital Safety
Score was compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts
on patient safety and is designed to give the public information they
can use to protect themselves and their families.

publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single score representing
a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from infections,
