The Birthplace

Childbirth is not only the beginning of new life, it’s also the creation
and growth of a family. At the Birthplace, we recognize the importance
and intimacy of the family and encourage family members to get involved
in the experience.
The Birthplace at CaroMont Health is a specially crafted environment for
families to share this incredible moment in life. This philosophy of family-centered
care is seen throughout the space, from the soothing, comfortable rooms
to our cool children’s play area. Successfully creating an atmosphere
around a philosophy of care has attracted visitors from almost every state
in the country, as well as numerous countries.
The Birthplace at CaroMont Regional Medical Center is a world-class birthing
center dedicated to family-centered care and the health and safety of
both mother and baby. Completed in October 2004, The Birthplace features
52 labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) rooms, three C-section
operating suites, a 16-bed single-room Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU),
a family dining area, children’s play area and family resource center.
On average, 165 babies are delivered monthly at The Birthplace, equaling
about 2,000 deliveries each year. In addition to labor and delivery, The
Birthplace offers lactation consulting, physical therapy for pelvic floor
disorders, tours, and classes for moms, dads and siblings-to-be through
The Birthplace’s extensive education program. At The Birthplace,
our mission is to respect the importance of the family and encourage family
involvement and support in our expecting mothers’ lives.
