Obstetrics
Our supportive obstetrics & gynecology team offers a range of services
for pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post-pregnancy stages. With a focus on
providing high-quality and safe care, our obstetrician-gynecology (OB-GYN)
and nursing staff teams manage routine and high risk pregnancies. With
the goal that every pregnancy results in a healthy mother and baby, our
expert care uses the best in ultrasound, birth defect screening, diabetes
management and fetal monitoring. Labor, delivery and recovery take place
exclusively in private birthing suites at
The Birthplace at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
CaroMont Women’s Health – Close to work or home, our OB-GYN offices offer comprehensive care
with easy access via our online portal,
MyChart. CaroMont Women's Health has three locations to better serve you.
Maternity Care - Since
The Birthplace opened in October 2004, it has attracted the attention of nurses, doctors
and hospitals nationwide. It is noted as one of the most innovative birthing
centers in the nation and was designed with one simple idea focus in mind
— to provide the perfect best environment for families to share
one of life’s most amazing experiences. The Birthplace reflects
our commitment to family-centered care while celebrating and supporting
the birth of a child. We are able to offer high-risk obstetrical care
and have a High-Risk OB Nurse Navigator on staff to support the mother-to-be
and her family during a high-risk pregnancy.

Breastfeeding - Beyond nutritional and economic advantages, breastfeeding has many life-long
health benefits for both baby and mother. Breastfed babies tend to have
fewer ear infections and colds and episodes of diarrhea. They are also
less likely to develop obesity as adults and moms who breastfeed return
to their pre-pregnancy size more quickly and have reduced risk of developing
breast cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis later in life. If you choose
to breastfeed, our board-certified lactation consultants and expert nurses
are here to help you get started toward a successful breastfeeding experience.
Neonatal Intensive Care - Perhaps the most progressive feature in the Birthplace is our 16-suite
Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Newborns requiring intensive
care share a private room with their parents. Round-the-clock care is
provided by board-certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners
and registered nurses. Our amenities allow parents to stay with their
infants 24/7 if they wish, as each room features a pull-out bed and recliner.
Family spaces in the NICU include a dining area, living room, shower facilities,
breast pumping room and laundry room.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine - Maternal-Fetal Medicine offers specialty care for women with risk factors
that may affect their pregnancies. We work together with the referring
obstetrician to create a comprehensive treatment plan that achieves the
best outcome for mom and baby. We are proud to have on staff a perinatologist,
an obstetrician with additional training in maternal-fetal medicine.
Education - We offer a wide variety of pregnancy, child birth, and parenting classes
designed to help guide you through the special birthing experience of
growing a family. Our classes provide support and encouragement, share
resources, promote wellness, and empower women to make informed choices
about childbirth and parenting. Click
