Programs and Services

At CaroMont Cancer Center, we use leading technology to aggressively treat cancer. At the same time, we support you with nutrition and other therapies, because we know that managing the side effects of cancer treatment is half the battle. Patients receive continuous care from a dedicated team, and diagnostic testing and treatments take place onsite at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Treaments can be widely varied, depending on your personal situation.

Medical Oncology
Treatment may involve the use of medical oncology, and can be conveniently provided by board-certified medical oncologists on an inpatient or outpatient basis. A team of nurses with special certification in oncology provide chemotherapy and other systemic treatments at the CaroMont Cancer Center, the Outpatient Infusion Center and the inpatient Oncology Unit at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

  • Inpatient Oncology Unit
The Inpatient Medical Oncology Unit is dedicated to meeting the special needs of cancer patients and encourages a focus on healing. Our specialty-certified Registered Nurses manage the care of patients receiving chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. Several have achieved national nursing certification in Oncology (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.
  • Outpatient Infusion Center
The Outpatient Infusion Center is staffed with Registered Nurses who have received certification in chemotherapy and biotherapy administration through the Oncology Nursing Society. This highly-skilled team works collaboratively with medical oncology physicians to provide care.

Radiation Oncology
Radiation therapy is one of the most effective weapons against cancer. It can be given as part of an initial treatment plan or as a means to lessen or control symptoms, such as cancer-related pain. CaroMont Cancer Center uses a variety of approaches in the treatment of cancer, including external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, and mammosite and prostate seed implant therapy. External beam radiation therapy uses two linear accelerators, including TrueBeam™ technology for radiotherapy and stereotactic radiosurgery to target cancer cells, reducing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. The amazing precision of TrueBeam™ allows patients to fight even difficult-to-treat cancers more effectively, with fewer side effects and faster recovery.

The treatment planning and delivery process is highly-technical and utilizes advanced care options such as 3D Treatment planning, CT Simulation and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) to closely target tumors and minimize exposure to healthy tissue and cells.

CaroMont Health has many highly-trained board certified surgeons on staff to address cancer-related surgical needs using the latest technologies. Surgeons work with your care team to develop an individualized approach to optimize your outcome. Based on your personal need, our surgical services can be provided on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

In September 2012, CaroMont Breast Surgical Specialists welcomed fellowship-trained Breast Surgeon Paula Lundgren, MD, to our nationally-accredited Breast Cancer Program. To learn more about Dr. Lundgren and her practice, please click here.
