Clinical trials are strictly-controlled studies of new and emerging therapies
that test whether a new drug, prevention strategy or screening option
is safe and effective for patients. CaroMont Cancer Center is part of
a consortium of North Carolina cancer centers with access to a wide variety
of clinical trials sponsored by government organizations such as the National
Cancer Institute. Patients receive specialized care from clinicians, and
are among the first to benefit from new treatments for many types of cancer.
Patients may be eligible to participate in a clinical trial study if criteria
for study inclusion are met. Options for participation will be offered
and explained by oncologists or surgeons during treatment.
