Visiting Hours & Policy
CaroMont Regional Medical Center recognizes the importance family members
and care partners play in supporting, comforting and providing important
information in the care of the patient. Family members and care partners
are respected members of the healthcare team who help to ensure quality
and safety. CaroMont Regional Medical Center patients have the right to
define their “family” and how they will be involved in care,
care planning and decision making.
- All patients have the right to receive visitors. CaroMont Regional will
not restrict, limit or deny visitation privileges based on age, culture,
language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, race, color,
national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or
disability.
- Visitation is open to virtually anyone – a spouse, domestic partner
(including a same-sex domestic partner), another family member or friend.
CaroMont Regional will ensure that all visitors enjoy full and equal visitation
privileges consistent with the patient’s preferences.
- The patient has the responsibility to inform the staff of any visitor(s)
they would like to be asked to leave.
- CaroMont Regional will allow a family member, friend or other individual
to be present with the patient for emotional support during the course
of the hospital stay.
- CaroMont Regional will allow for the presence of a support individual of
the patient’s choice unless the individual’s presence infringes
on others’ rights, safety or is medically contraindicated. The support
person may or may not be the patient’s surrogate decision maker
or legally authorized representative.
- CaroMont Regional endorses an open visitation atmosphere. There may be
instances when visitation needs to be limited or restricted when it is
clinically necessary or reasonable. Example: flu visitation restrictions,
inpatient psychiatric units, etc.
Open visiting hours are between 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m., visitors arriving
outside of those hours need to enter through the Rotunda or Emergency
Department to sign in and receive a self-expiring visitor badge that must
be worn at all times and visible while in the hospital. Visitors will
have access to the patient’s floor they are visiting and The Terrace.
Visitors from the Emergency Department will only be able to access The Terrace.
