The Medicaid program in North Carolina is changing for nearly all Medicaid
patients. In the future, most patients who receive Medicaid will be required
to choose a health plan that is best for them. A health plan offers a
network of doctors, hospitals and other providers who work together to
care for patients. NC Department of Health and Human Services will send
a letter to current Medicaid recipients with instructions on how to enroll.
