The CaroMont Health Board of Directors announced that it has appointed
former Chairman of the Board Chris Peek as the company’s permanent
President and Chief Executive Officer, effective May 15, 2017. He takes
over for Dr. Todd Davis who has served the organization well in an interim
capacity since March 31.
“Upon careful consideration, the Search Committee unanimously nominated
Chris Peek as the new CEO of the organization. We are fortunate to have
someone as uniquely qualified and familiar with our health system as Chris
Peek, to truly hit the ground running,” said Donnie Loftis, Vice
Chair of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Search Committee. “Chris
operates with focus and integrity in all that he does, is highly respected
in this community, and will ensure the stability and growth of the organization.”
Mr. Peek has been a member of the CaroMont Health Board of Directors since
January 2015 and serves as deputy county manager and chief of staff for
Mecklenburg County. He previously served as human resources director for
the County, providing strategic leadership for the County’s human
resources functions. He brings a significant breadth of experience in
both the public and private sector, and has a deep understanding of the
CaroMont Health System. Raised in the Gastonia area, he is tremendously
passionate about the community we serve.

Mr. Peek was educated locally, graduating from Victory Christian Academy
in Gastonia. He earned his Associate’s Degree from Gaston College,
and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University
of North Carolina – Charlotte. He received an MBA from Amberton
University in Dallas, Texas.
Chris Peek’s leadership and business acumen, in combination with
CaroMont Health’s clinical expertise, will ensure the health system
continues to provide excellent care for the community for years to come.
This appointment will provide continued stability and a strong focus on
sustained growth as a top tier independent health system. Additionally,
and most importantly, it will allow the system to continue to focus on
providing the highest level of care to the community.
Chris lives in Gastonia with his wife Cheryl, a graduate of Hunter Huss
High School, and their two daughters, Sydney and Madison.
