For the third year, CaroMont Health will host the CaroMont Community Challenge,
a 5K run, 1-mile fun walk and family-friendly event. Runners and walkers
of all ages are welcome to attend this exciting health and wellness experience
on May 14, 2016 at Stuart W. Cramer High School, 101 Lakewood Road in Belmont.
“We want the CaroMont Community Challenge to bring our community
together to run, walk and support one another, regardless of where they
are in their health journey,” said Doug Luckett, President and CEO
at CaroMont Health. “Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just
starting to exercise, taking that first step is important, and we hope
this event gives people an opportunity to compete, learn or just make
connections to help them improve their health and wellness. We’re
in our third year, and it just keeps getting better. We have a Couch to
5K training program that we’re offering to help walkers and runners
prepare, and we’ll have activities for all ages and fitness levels
during the event. It’s just a really great way to spend your Saturday
morning.”
As Luckett mentions, the CaroMont Community Challenge is more than a race;
it is a health and wellness experience for the whole family. Attendees
will enjoy health and fitness demonstrations, interactive fitness challenges,
giveaways and prizes, and a variety of fun and interactive activities.

Couch to 5K Training
Run or walk your very first 5K with the help of CaroMont’s Couch
to 5K (C25K) training program. Join CaroMont on Saturday, March 14 at
8:30 a.m. at Discover YOU!, 420 East Central Avenue in Mount Holly, to
kick-off a community-wide C25K program. Learn about training programs
near you and meet fellow trainees. The training program is designed to
get just about anyone from the couch to running or walking a 5K in just
nine weeks. The secret is the gentle introduction to getting the body
moving, starting off alternating between walking and running small distances,
and slowly building up to completing a full 5K. For more information about
C25K and other training programs, contact meghan.marr@caromonthealth.org.
