Luckett Receives 2016 Grassroots Champion Award

The American Hospital Association Grassroots Champion Award, which is presented
each year to one person from each state, was created to recognize those
hospital leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on major
issues affecting the hospital’s role in the community, who successfully
delivered the hospital’s message in helping garner community support
for hospitals and who has made being an advocate for patients, hospitals
and the community a priority.
Since Luckett assumed his position as President and Chief Executive Officer
of CaroMont Health in 2013, he has engaged the community and forged relationships
with legislators to share information about healthcare issues and policies
that impact the citizens of Gaston County.
"We depend on strong local voices to help tell the story of health
systems as economic anchors and trusted partners in the communities they
serve,” said Bill Pully, NCHA president. “Doug Luckett has
done an outstanding job of engaging community leaders in a clearer understanding
of our collective mission to improve access to quality care and promote
healthier communities. NCHA is pleased to honor him with the Grassroots
Champion Award.”
The AHA is the national organization that represents and serves all types
of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities.
Nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers
of care and 43,000 individual members come together to form the AHA.
