Event Celebrates 2015 Grant Recipients and
Role
of Improving Community Health
On Wednesday, July 22, the CaroMont Health Foundation hosted a reception
to honor the 2015 recipients of grant funding. Eleven community organizations
and CaroMont programs were awarded $511,479 in support of initiatives
focused on improving and enhancing the health and wellness of Gaston County
residents.
“The CaroMont Health Foundation is proud to partner with departments
within CaroMont and non-profits in the community to provide funding that
can make a significant and measurable difference in the health of our
community,” said Doug Luckett, President and CEO. “These initiatives
help move the needle forward in our efforts to promote health and wellness
and improve the quality of life of Gaston County residents.”
The CaroMont Foundation has offered hope and health in the community in
the form of grants and partnerships for a number of years. Under the direction
of the Foundation Board and Grants Committee, the Foundation underwent
changes this year in an effort to broaden its impact in the community
and provide more precise and consistent application guidelines.
"Foundation grant recipients went through a rigorous four-month application
process,” said Debbie Windley, Director of Development for CaroMont
Health. “We are very excited about this process and are looking
forward to receiving updates from the recipients throughout the year."
Aimed at providing funding to those programs and initiatives that focus
on key parts of advancing the health of citizens in the Gaston County
community, the Foundation Board was integral in charting this new path.
“The Grants Committee is excited about the potential, measurable
progress to be made toward truly improving the health and quality of life
of our community by working collaboratively with valued community organizations
and within the fine staff and teams at CaroMont Health,” said Tim
Paschall, Grants Committee Chair. “We specifically targeted areas
to support funding of programs and initiatives aimed at proper nutritional
education and nutrition support as well as anti-tobacco education and
efforts.”
