CaroMont Health’s CEO Elected to American Hospital Association’s Metropolitan Section Governing Council

Gastonia, NC – January 3, 2010- CaroMont Health announced today that Valinda Rutledge, President and CEO, has been elected as a member of the American Hospital Association’s Section for Metropolitan Hospitals from region three. The term is a three year commitment beginning January 1, 2011 and ending December 31, 2013.

The Governing Council includes 18 elected and 6 appointed members who are chief executives of some of the country’s leading Metropolitan hospitals. It also has ex-officio members representing state and metro hospital associations, the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems, and the Association of American Medical Colleges. Members of the Governing Council work on behalf of the nation’s Metropolitan hospitals and serve as key contacts and resources for Metro hospitals in their regions. In addition, Governing Council members work with AHA, regional, and state association staff to build section visibility and assist with member recruitment and retention.

AHA’s legislative staff has direct contact with members of Congress including staff on key committees with jurisdiction over rural healthcare issues. In addition, we work closely with federal agencies such as the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Agency for Healthcare Resources and Quality.
