Step-Down & Progressive Care Unit

The Step Down or Progressive Coronary Care Units are floors equipped with continuous EKG monitoring capability and are staffed by highly trained cardiac nurses. Patients with a wide variety of cardiac conditions including myocardial infarction (heart attack), congestive heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms are cared for in these units. An expert team led by cardiologists help tailor medical treatment. The transition to ambulatory care begins here. Patient education regarding the disease process, medical treatments and lifestyle modification are provided and reinforced by a dedicated team of physicians, nurses, dieticians, physical therapists and case workers.
