The cardiology department’s goal is to provide integrated care which seamlessly provides care in both the inpatient and outpatient arenas working closely with the patient, his or her family and primary care physician.
Cardiology Diagnostic ServicesCaromont Health offers comprehensive diagnostic testing in both outpatient and inpatient venues. At Gaston Memorial Hospital invasive diagnostic procedures such as heart catheterization and electrophysiology studies are performed in the catheterization laboratories. Noninvasive tests including trans-thoracic echocardiography, routine exercise testing, Nuclear Cardilogy, Stress Echocardiography, trans thoracic and trans-esophageal Echocardiography, Coronary CT Angiography, Holter and Event rhythm monitoring and cardiac CT are also available to help diagnose cardiac conditions. These tests are interpreted by cardiologists many with advanced training in noninvasive diagnostic cardiology.
Invasive & Interventional CardiologyBoard certified invasive and interventional cardiologists perform the full spectrum of diagnostic and interventional procedures in four state of the art catheterization labs at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Disease states evaluated and treated in the catheterization lab range from the emergent treatment of acute coronary syndromes such as Acute Myocardial Infarction (heart attacks) to the elective evaluation of symptoms such as shortness of breath and chest pain. A highly trained team comprised of cath lab technicians, specialty trained nurses and cardiologists work together to ensure safe, efficient and comprehensive care.
