Welcome to the Gaston Memorial Hospital Laboratory Tests and Services Directory
We are committed to providing first-rate laboratory services to the communities we serve. The hospital-based, clinical laboratory operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to offer continuous coverage for all patient and healthcare provider testing needs.
Offering the gamut of clinical testing and pathology services, The Laboratory reports more than 2.6 million patient results per year. Testing is performed by credentialed Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians utilizing the foremost techniques under the direction of Board Certified Pathologists.
The Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and is certified by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
Departments
Gaston Memorial Hospital Laboratory is comprised of six major clinical departments:
- Chemistry
- Hematology / Coagulation
- Microbiology
- Blood Bank / Transfusion Services
- Cytology
- Anatomic Pathology / Histology
Other departments which provide support within the laboratory are information systems, phlebotomy, specimen processing and laboratory administration.
