CaroMont Preoperative Consultants, (CPC) provides services to optimize care for the high risk surgical patient.  The clinic promotes a collaborative approach with surgeons, primary care physicians, anesthesiologists, and inpatient medical doctors to reduce preoperative morbidity and mortality. Patient screening questionnaires identify high risk patients which will benefit the most. The questionnaires are available below.

At the physician’s request, the patient will attend a preoperative appointment at least 2 weeks prior to the surgery date.  Patients are seen for a one-time consultation, with follow-up appointments as needed.  The doctors at CPC work closely with the patient’s current physicians to address pertinent issues and obtain necessary information to optimize the patient for surgery. The evaluation and management goals include optimization and treatment of acute and chronic problems, preoperative medication management, diagnostic testing, and implementation of risk reduction strategies.  The information is communicated to the medical team , the patient’s hospital-based physicians, and the PCP for long-term care.
