U.S. News & World Report Rates CaroMont Among Charlotte's Best

Gastonia, NC – April 1, 2011 – CaroMont Health announced today that has been rated as a top hospital in the Charlotte metropolitan area by U.S. News & World Report.

The magazine’s “Best Hospitals” rankings examined nearly 5,000 hospitals across the nation. CaroMont Health’s CaroMont Regional Medical Center was ranked No. 2 in the Charlotte area.

The U.S. News & World Report metro area rankings are designed to help families find top-performing hospitals within their health insurance network. The magazine looked at 16 Charlotte-area hospitals in terms of their nationally ranked specialties and other specialties in which it was among the top 25 percent nationally.

CaroMont Regional Medical Center had six high-performing specialties, including gynecology, urology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, kidney disorders, and pulmonology.

“U.S. News & World Report said that we scored highly in patient safety and demonstrated a commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes,” said Jan Mathews, Assistant Vice President of Quality Management at CaroMont Health. “It also pointed out that we ranked above the North Carolina and national averages in terms of patient satisfaction.”
